About Mary
Mary has painted all her life, but opted to train as a textile designer after she left school. She worked for Dorma Textiles as a designer in the late 60's before giving up paid work to raise her four children. When she was ready to return to employment she decided to study for an MA in Social Work and then worked as a Probation Officer for fifteen years. Much of her time with the Probation Service was spent in the East End of London working with young people.
Throughout her life she has always felt the urge to be creative; in her fifties she took a sebatical to study "Fine Art" at University. She is now retired from the Probation service and her primary activity is her painting. As a contrast to the years she spent in London, her current passion is for the countryside surrounding her Wiltshire home and she draws outside whenever the weather permits.. She also enjoys painting pictures of chilldren playing on the beach or in the garden. Life Drawing is an important discipline and she develops the drawings that she does in her class to create paintings of abstract figures.
She lives with her husband, Muir in an idyllic Wiltshire cottage and works in a studio in their garden. He is a dificult old codger and distracts her with his constant moans and daily lunch requirements. The garden theme features in her work, and she always enjoys sharing this beautiful environment with friends and people who are interested in her paintings.
Mary's paintings vary in price from £100 to £1,200 according to size and medium. She would like you to view her web-site and then contact her through email to arrange to visit her barn gallery where she would be happy to show you her paintings. She is also very happy to discuss commissions.
